Coffee Street: Dalat Hills, our next game

Coffee Street: Dalat Hills: a striped coffee cart with customers, stools, flower bushes and a stone path, with wooden stairs leading up the hill

Da Lat sits high in Viet Nam's Central Highlands, a town of pine forests, flower gardens and cool mornings where a cup of coffee is part of the day. Our next game starts there, with a small coffee cart on a grassy hillside.

Coffee Street: Dalat Hills is a cozy isometric game about running that cart and slowly turning the hill around it into a place people want to visit. It is an early prototype, but the whole loop already plays from start to finish, so we want to share a first look.

Brew, serve, build

Passers-by stroll along the path and stop at your cart. You brew their drinks (three of them in the prototype) and serve them while they wait. What you earn goes back into the hill around you:

  • place tables and stools so customers can sit down,
  • plant flowers and pines,
  • draw stone paths and fences wherever you like,
  • hire a barista to help at the cart.

Up the hill

As the cart gets busier, milestones open up more of the hill. Wooden stairs lead up to a higher terrace, where you can open a scenic deck among the pines. After the milestones the game turns into a free sandbox, so you can keep building the hillside at your own pace.

What you are looking at

Everything in these pictures is generated in code for now: simple shapes and flat colours that let us test the game before the final art. The look will change; the feeling we are after will not: a slow, friendly game about a coffee cart, a garden and a view.

The prototype runs on desktop. We will post progress here and on our itch.io page as the game grows.
